Are you a city resident with a passion for community education and recreation? The Recreation Advisory Commission is seeking applicants for open seats.
RAC is a commission of 12 community members: six appointed by the AAPS Board of Education and six appointed by Ann Arbor City Council. RAC advises both entities about public recreation matters.

RAC's role includes:
- Serving as a sounding board for the community by giving input and feedback to staff regarding program offerings, fees charged and policies and procedures,
- Raising important issues about all facets of recreation for consideration by policy makers, the media, and the public, and
- Acting as Rec & Ed and Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation ambassadors and communicators, keeping up on department activities, and representing the department on committees and in neighborhoods, at work, and in community organizations.
Typically, RAC meets four times each school year, in September, December, March and either May or June.
How do you know if you're right for RAC?
The Commission needs people who have an interest in recreation, are knowledgable about AAPS Rec & Ed programs, can bring a little expertise to the table, and are dependable. Diversity of background and in connection to Rec & Ed is also considered.
